Steve Newman

Steve Newman is a freelance travel writer specialising in expedition/small ship cruising and wild travel in far-flung countries. He combines these with a passionate interest in birdwatching and the coastal migration of avian, cetacean, and fish species.

Writing for outlets such as The Telegraph, iPaper Birdwatching, and several other specialist magazines, both trade and consumer, he is now in his 70s, on his own, and is interested in solo and accessible travel for all ages.

He has written coffee table books and guides on his beloved Northumberland, and when not travelling the world, can be found on that county’s coastline working and researching  or helping his friends run a tourist boat to the Farne Islands.

He describes himself as the world’s worst mandolin player and never intends to retire.
