Daphne Islands

Geography

These small volcanic islands are located north of Santa Cruz Island and are noted for their cratered landscapes.

Significance

Comprising two islands, Daphne Major and Daphne Minor, this site is famous for long-term research on Darwin's finches, which has greatly contributed to the understanding of evolution.

Attractions

Due to their ecological sensitivity and ongoing scientific research, visits to the Daphne Islands are generally restricted. However, circumnavigating the islands by boat offers great views of seabirds, including blue-footed boobies and frigate birds.
