Puerto Moín

Geography

Puerto Moín is about 1.2 miles northeast of Puerto Limón on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast. It is primarily a commercial port but also serves as a cruise port, offering access to the country's Caribbean side.

Significance

Puerto Moín is one of the most important commercial ports in Costa Rica. It serves as a gateway for cargo and cruise ships. Its proximity to Puerto Limón makes it a key entry point for exploring the country's Caribbean region.

Attractions

Known for its extensive network of canals and rich biodiversity, Tortuguero National Park is a major destination for eco-tourism and wildlife viewing. It is famous for its sea turtle nesting sites, especially during the nesting season from July to October.

Activities

Activities here include guided boat tours through the canals, wildlife spotting (including monkeys, sloths, and various bird species), and turtle watching. Tours of banana plantations are also popular, and visitors can learn about the cultivation process and the importance of bananas to the local economy.
