Nori Jemil is a multi-award-winning writer and photographer who works across a range of travel publications. A co-author for Fodor's Travel, Rough Guides and Lonely Planet, it was her own book with Bradt Guides - The Travel Photographer’s Way - that was shortlisted for an Edward Stanford Travel Writing Award. Currently based in London, she spends several months per year in Western Australia, where she has close family ties. She also called Santiago de Chile home for many years.

A long-time expedition cruise photography guide in Patagonia, she previously led photo tours in Iceland and the Arctic. Nori has always enjoyed expedition and adventure travel, sailing to Antarctica, the Amazon and the Arctic to photograph nature and wildlife. Recent work has taken her to French Polynesia, where she experienced warm weather cruising for only the second time in her life. She is now hooked.

An experienced public speaker, Nori has given headline talks and lectures at the Royal Geographical Society, Destinations, Stanfords Travel and Blackwell’s in Oxford. She teaches filmmaking in London and is a regular contributor to National Geographic Traveller (UK), where she has presented their Photography Masterclasses since 2018.

Nori won a Consumer Magazine Feature of the Year award from Inspire Global Media in 2025, for a feature on cetacean conservation in Western Australia published in Oceanographic magazine. She won the best published image of Latin America at the LATA Awards in 2023, as well as Wanderlust's Travel Photograph of the Year and the British Guild of Travel Writers’ Photographer of the Year in 2017.

A mentor for Intrepid’s 2024 Diversifying the Travel Media programme, Nori believes that what links the range of work she's involved with is the way in which storytelling, in all its forms, can impact an audience, create a powerful sense of place, and encourage reflection on the sometimes fragile world we inhabit.
