Expedition overview & highlights

  • Venture deep into Kangertitivatsiaq Fjord on Greenland’s remote east coast.
  • Sail along Prince Christian Sound, surrounded by towering mountains with glaciers that calve directly into the sea.
  • At the National Museum in Nuuk, see the fascinating exhibit of the Qilakitsoq mummies dating back 545 years.

Immerse yourself in the vastness of Greenland, the world’s largest island, where jagged peaks rise against vibrant blue skies and glaciers wind their way toward the coastline. Enjoy hikes across the tundra, keeping an eye out for Arctic foxes and reindeer, while sampling wild berries along the way. Zodiac-cruise through fjords, where you may spot ringed seals lounging on sea ice calved from Greenland’s massive ice sheets—the largest in the Arctic—and possibly witness whales feeding in the nutrient-rich waters. Sail through Prince Christian Sound, flanked by towering mountains, and discover the green pastures of southern Greenland, a sign of human settlement. Visit the Viking ruins at Hvalsey, where Erik the Red once lived. As we weave through fjords and channels, we reach west Greenland, the country’s most developed region, home to Nuuk, the capital, and the world’s northernmost capital city.

On this voyage, visit remote Inuit hamlets and settlements, where the local Inuit people still practice traditional hunting methods, including whaling, that some people may find confronting. If you find yourself feeling upset and disturbed by what you see, please alert a member of the expedition team immediately. They will do their best to address your concerns and take action to mitigate the problem wherever possible.
