Expedition overview & highlights

  • Witness the incredible diversity of Iceland’s landscapes forged by the powerful seismic activity that has shaped the island’s appearance and way of life.
  • The cliffs at Latrabjarg are the easternmost point in Europe and home to a large colony of nesting puffins.
  • Hike on Vigur Island where you can get close to rare Arctic birdlife.

Iceland is one of the youngest countries on Earth, a land shaped by remarkable geological forces and rich in wildlife, culture, and history. On this voyage, you’ll explore the Westfjords, one of Iceland's most remote and pristine regions, perfect for nature hikes and observing birds and whales. Discover a variety of landscapes, from thundering waterfalls and steaming lava fields to lush valleys that seem to stretch forever. In Husavik, have your camera ready to capture the sight of a whale’s fluke as it dives deep into the ocean. The nutrient-rich waters along Iceland's northern coast attract numerous whale species, offering frequent sightings of humpback and minke whales. Iceland is also home to large colonies of Atlantic puffins, and you’ll have plenty of chances to spot these charming birds as they nest in their burrows.

Note: In order to experience some of the incredible scenery of Iceland, a number of the shore excursions on this itinerary require coach travel away from the coast.
