Ullapool; An attractive, important fishing town that bustles in the summertime and is the main ferry terminal and gateway to Lewis and Harris. Our departure point, will be the pontoons situated in the heart of the town. We shall begin boarding Hjalmar Bjorge at 14:30. A short briefing will follow to acquaint our guests with life aboard the ship, its safety procedures, policies, and get you settled into your accommodation. We aim to cast off at 15:30 then head for the first nights anchorage at one of the Summer Isles, offering great chances to spot White Tailed Eagles and Dolphins on route.

As this cruise is very much aimed at searching for and enjoying the various Cetacean species to be found in the Minch, its neighbouring waters of the Little Minch and the Sea of the Hebrides, our itinerary will largely be dictated by the most recent sightings; which we will monitor.  Sea and weather conditions, and the experience of our local skipper will have us roaming around between the coastlines of Lewis and Harris, the Isle of Skye, the Shiant Isles, the Small Isles and over to the west coast of the Highland mainland. Our overnight anchorages will largely be in quiet, remote areas with sightings of Red Deer, Otters, Seals and Eagles overhead all possible.

After a very hearty breakfast to see you on your way, it’s back to Ullapool for 10:30, breakfasted and ready to depart with fond farewells. it’s time to climb into our courtesy transport bound for Inverness with every chance of some interesting birds along the way, such as Black Throated Diver, Osprey and Red Kite. Arriving approximately 12:00 in Inverness.
