Salisbury Plain

Geography

A broad coastal plain located on the northern coast of South Georgia, backed by the Grace Glacier, Salisbury Plain is one of the island's most wildlife-rich areas.

Significance

The plain is renowned for its enormous king penguin colony, one of the largest in South Georgia.

Attractions

Besides the king penguins, the area is populated with elephant seals and fur seals, providing the full spectrum of South Georgian wildlife in one location.

Activities

Wildlife observation and photography are the main activities, with visitors able to walk near the edge of the colony under the guidance of experts to ensure minimal disturbance.
