New Island

Geography

New Island, part of Chile's Tierra del Fuego archipelago, lies east of Navarino Island, near the Beagle Channel, at the southern tip of South America, alongside Picton and Lennox islands.

Transformed from a sheep farm into a National Nature Reserve and an important bird area, New Island is home to a concerted conservation effort including The New Island Project, created to protect the island’s diverse bird species and preserve its regional biodiversity.
