About the Gentoo Penguin

Gentoo Penguins are distinguished by their bright orange-red bills and the white stripe extending like a bonnet across the top of their heads.

Gentoo Penguins are common within their localised habitats and are expanding their range northward as temperatures rise.

Their main threats are climate change, which affects their ice-dependent prey, as well as human disturbance during breeding.

Rising temperatures lead to habitat changes which can benefit them in some areas but also disrupt their food web.
