Wick

Geography

Wick is a historic town in the far north of the Scottish Highlands, on the northeast coast, facing the North Sea. It was once one of Europe's busiest herring fishing ports.

Significance

The town's heritage as a Viking settlement and its later prominence in the herring industry have left a rich cultural and historical legacy, including Wick Heritage Museum and the Old Pulteney Distillery.

Attractions

Wick's Heritage Museum, showcasing the town's fishing history, and the dramatic coastal ruins of Castle Sinclair Girnigoe. The nearby Caithness landscape offers rugged cliffs and remote beauty.

Activities
