Isle of Rum

Geography

The Isle of Rum is a volcanic island located south of the Isle of Skye. It is the largest of the Small Isles in Scotland's Inner Hebrides. Its area is approximately 104 sq km (40 sq mi).

Significance

The Isle of Rum used to be a private hunting estate. Today, it is a National Nature Reserve managed by NatureScot.

Attractions

One of the island's top attractions is Kinloch Castle, an opulent Edwardian mansion that offers a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of its former owners.

Activities

Activities include hiking, photography and wildlife watching. Some of the species that can be seen on the island are Red Deer, Seals, Golden Eagles, and Manx Shearwaters.
