Iona

Geography

Iona lies off the southwest coast of Mull in the Inner Hebrides, accessible by ferry from Fionnphort on Mull. A tiny island, just 1.5 miles wide and 3 miles long, it has a population of around 150.

Significance

As a cradle of early Christianity in Scotland, Iona is steeped in religious and cultural history.

Attractions

Attractions here include Iona Abbey, St Martin's Cross, Iona nunnery, the Hill of the Angels, St Oran's Chapel and Reilig Odhráin, and it's pristine beaches.

Activities

Activities include wildlife watching, hiking and photography. it's unspoilt landscape make it a favourite for many expedition cruises.
