Somerset Island

Geography

Situated in Nunavut, Canada, Somerset Island is a large, uninhabited island characterized by barren, rocky terrain and wide river valleys. The island's northern coast is deeply indented by Peel Sound and Prince Regent Inlet.

Significance

Known for its archaeological sites, Somerset Island offers insights into ancient Thule and Dorset cultures. The island's diverse wildlife and remote beauty make it an important area for ecological study and exploration.
