Røde Ø (Red Island)

Geography

Located in the stunning Scoresby Sund of East Greenland, Røde Ø, known as Red Island, is so named due to its striking red sandstone mountains that contrast vividly against the white and blue of the surrounding icebergs and glaciers.

Significance

The island's distinct red hue provides a unique geological glimpse into the Arctic's past, revealing sedimentary layers that tell a story of ancient climates and long-lost landscapes.

Attractions

The picturesque scenery of red cliffs rising above the ice-filled waters makes Røde Ø a photographer's paradise, offering breathtaking views that epitomize the wild beauty of the Arctic.

Activities

Zodiac cruises around the island allow visitors to navigate through a maze of icebergs for up-close views of the red sandstone formations, while also providing opportunities for iceberg and wildlife photography in one of Greenland's most photogenic locations.
